Merry Christmas, everyone!
Almost caught up now. Yesterday, we took stale bread to the park and fed the birds again. There's one particular corner of the park where the geese hang out, and are spoiled rotten. They are used to being fed, and get rather demanding about it. So do the seagulls and the ibises.
Some people bring bags of corn for the birds. This is one such person.

This couple saw Steve with bread in hand and waddled straight for us.
This guy has our bread!

Oh hai, Person-with-Bread

Most of these domestic geese breeds are descendants of the European graylag goose.
There are also some Chinese or swan geese, but I didn't get pictures of them today.

Um, more?

Note the nutria looking for handouts, too.
Would you believe me if I said I was out of bread?

It was a dark, grayish day with incipient rain. We looked for the cygnets for some time along the ponds and canals and didn't find them. As we headed back to the car, we noticed some
black swans grazing in the grass away from the water, accompanied by a huge white swan. (Sorry,
no picture). The white swan was quite tame; you could walk right up to her and pet her.
As we drove out, we found the swan pair with the cygnets camped out on the grass along
the road. What? I guess they like to take walks now and then, too.
Swans and cygnets, camping

One adult kept watch, the other slept, and the cygnets were all preening their feathers.
Cygnets preening while mom sleeps

Finally, just before we left, this rooster came over to see what was going on.
